To drive in China, you must have a valid Chinese driving license. For a foreigner possessing a license, the process is very simple:
Valid Z, J or Diplomatic visa
A brief visual physical examination at an appointed public hospital
Have the license translated into Chinese
Pass a multiple-choice test on rules for driving. The test can be taken in English, French, German, Spanish, Korean or Japanese.
A foreigner with a valid license does not need any road test.
